Press Release Meeting DOE 02.12.14

MICA ACTION GROUP FIRST MEETING WITH DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT IN DUBLIN VERY CONSTRUCTIVE

For Immediate Release                                                           Carndonagh 2nd December 2014

Following on from the successful public meeting of November 17th on the issue of defective blocks used in homes across the county, the MICA action Group met with officials from the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government yesterday in Dublin to bring the issue to their attention and to discuss a way forward for affected homeowners.

Brigid Mc Gonagle, from Carndonagh, Joint Secretary of the Mica Action Group who was one of the delegates in attendance at the meeting in Dublin stated:

“The Mica Action group stressed the urgency of the matter and reiterated our call for a full investigation into this issue across the county.

“DOE officials expressed their concern over the issue and thanked the group for providing them with such detailed information on the matter.   However it is clear from discussions that there is still some way to go on this and there will be no ‘quick fix’.

“However, we are delighted that the officials within the department have made a commitment to the group to hold a further meeting internally to elevate this matter as early as next week.  We await the outcome of this meeting before Xmas in order to plan our next steps in seeking a redress scheme for all affected homeowners.
