Mica Action Group (MAG) is a Donegal based, volunteer led organisation campaigning for 100% Redress for those affected by defective concrete homes & buildings.

Redress Announcement

Just to clarify the actual scheme is not defined as yet. This was an announcement that Government have agreed at Cabinet level to provide a redress scheme.

Therefore, for information purposes, I have extracted the key points from the Government Press Release as follows:

  1. The Government has signed off on a scheme to assess and repair Mica affected homes in Co Donegal.
  2. There is approval for the scheme at a Cabinet meeting in Government Buildings in Dublin on Tuesday 9th October by Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government Eoghan Murphy who reported to ministerial colleagues on the potential scale of a programme to examine homes and to begin work.
  3. Work will start immediately on the design of the scheme. It is an exceptional measure.
  4. This has been a long road for the many families living with this scandal and we hope now that this gives them some peace of mind and assurance that we are aiming to begin work early next year.
  5. Further details of the scheme are to be confirmed by Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government Eoghan Murphy and Minister for Housing and Urban Development Damien English in the coming weeks.
